In preparation for Pamela Underwood and Helen Wilson’s major upcoming event,

Artists’ Revival at Taos, New Mexico,Helen and Pamela will be hosting a mini-retreat

for those interested in the Artists’ Revival, or for those who want a more local retreat

in Poway, California.

During the Artists’ Revival Retreat, Helen and Pamela apply the Italian concept

of terreno to the creative process.

Wine tasters define terreno as a specificity of

place, land, weather affecting the character, quality,

and personality of the wine.

We will meet at Pamela Underwood’s Poway Studio property, to gather nature objects, create land art, photograph it, draw it and dance it.  The group will respond with poetry.  In the studio our drawings will become layered with printing and washes, creating art that has a specific character and sense of the place, the land, the atmosphere where it was inspired.

Connecting with the sensuality of the specific place where we make art

informs our art making while forging a deeper connection with our own sense of

place, our own personal terreno.  

It is from this place, the ability to stay present, that authentic art emerges.
