Last evening we had a great Atist’s Way Group  feild trip to The Carrera Expedition at Liberty Station.  The artist Lauren Carrera and her husband were actually there tending the show.  This was very unusual and special!

It was wonderful to meet the woman behind this brilliant show.  I learned that she mentors other artist’s there at the site.  Also, she will open the show by special request since it has limited hours of Wednesday 5:30pm- 7:30pm and Saturdays noon to 4pm.

Our group viewed the whole expedition and then had the group go back to the piece that held their  attention the most.  I asked everyone to do a blind contour drawing (draw the art without looking at their paper) to really see and explore the work  more deeply.  They took time to notice what thoughts, feelings, body sensations or memories came for them when engaging with this work of art.  Each  participant presented their own findings and then reflected on how the surrounding walls/flooring/lighting supported the their experience of the art.
